Calhoun Café

Calhoun Café

Year Established:  2018

Operators name:  Zachary H. Neil

Number of employees from Calhoun County:  3

Location:  204 Independence St. St. Matthews, SC, 29135

Products and services:  This is a basic American Café.  We offer specialty menus daily, homemade soups, sandwiches, barbecue and salads, many made from long loved family recipes.  We have hand-made items available which are made by various local artisans such as bird houses and quilts.

Why did you decide to start this type of business:  I have always loved living in St. Matthews, and in 2018 the building became available so I bought it.  All the equipment was here and my mom and grandmother always wanted a restaurant so that’s how it started.

What accomplishment are you most proud of:  The quality and freshness of the food we offer and being an integral part of the community make me most proud. We offer options for everyone who comes to the café.

What sets you apart from other businesses that people might support? We are independently owned and operated by 3 generations of the same family.

Do you have any other info you want to share?  We have catering menus and will deliver. We cater parties and special events on site and off.  Small parties can be accommodated with short notice and large parties require a week’s notice. Our hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm.  We are open during special events on the weekends to accommodate members of the community, such as during the Purple Martin Festival. We sponsor programs at the library.  Our phone number is 803-614-9889.
